Advantages to Invisalign
Invisalign is a cutting-edge cosmetic dentistry treatment with a much shorter treatment length than conventional braces. Because Invisalign aligners are made from soft plastic, they are far more comfortable than traditional braces and don’t require rough and protruding brackets or wires to straighten the teeth. One of the most disliked aspects of traditional braces is the eating limitations, specifically no super crunchy or sticky snacks. However, with Invisalign you are free to consume anything you like as long as you remove your aligners beforehand!
How Invisalign Treatment Works
Everyone knows that having a beautiful smile can positively affect an individual's confidence and well-being. Under your dentist's instruction, Invisalign can be used to improve the appearance of your smile. Rippe Dental Associates has outlined the steps to a successful Invisalign treatment below:
Consultation
To determine if Invisalign is the right course of action for you, Dr. Rippe will schedule a consultation with you to go over your options and talk about the pros and cons of each. Before or during this appointment your dentist will take digital pictures and x-rays of your teeth so they can recommend what is best for your specific dental situation. If after this consultation you decide to move forward with Invisalign, you will be scheduled to come in for molding and additional imaging.
Molding & Imaging
In order to create your clear aligners, Dr. Rippe will need to take a mold and 3-D images of your teeth. This information will be used to create your aligners and the overall treatment plan for shifting your teeth into the desired position.
Retainers are made
Invisalign uses clear aligners from computer-generated images taken of your mouth to change your teeth's position. After these images and a mold of your teeth are taken, Dr. Rippe will digitally create your first set of aligners and send it off to be made. Once the aligners come are created, an appointment will be scheduled to fit them and walk you through the care process.
Wear the Retainers
The patient must be diligent about wearing their aligners in order to reach their desired look. The effectiveness of Invisalign treatment is contingent on the patient wearing the aligners for a minimum of 22 hours daily. The amount of time that a person must wear their aligners varies depending on the individual, but many people obtain their desired look in less than a year.
Regular Check Ups
Dr. Rippe will schedule regular check ups with you to see how the treatment is progressing and assess how much your teeth have shifted. During these check ups your dentist will make any necessary adjustments to your next set of aligners and order them, or advise you to continue wearing your current aligners.
