Are You Scheduled For An Appointment?

Are you due for your six-month checkup and cleaning at the dentist? If so, what are you doing to prepare? Of course, you have confirmed the date and time of your appointment and you will have planned to arrive early enough to fill out any information forms that may be appropriate, you don’t want to feel rushed.

You’ll want to feel as comfortable as possible during the exam, dress appropriately and go in with a clean, fresh mouth, it will boost your sense of self-confidence. Don’t think, however, that you can floss just before your appointment and your dentist and hygienist will think you’ve been doing it regularly since your last visit, they’ll be able to tell. Don’t feel bad if you’ve been a little lax in your home care, no one is there to judge.

Check in at the reception desk. Bring a list of your current medications along with any updates for your personal information page and that of your emergency contact, addresses, phone numbers, etc. Then you can relax with a bottle of water or a cup of (decaf) tea or coffee until the hygienist is ready for you.

If you know that you’ll be having a procedure that will require some form of sedation make sure to arrange for a friend to drive you to and from the appointment.
